It is only a short time before Google releases their flagship duo: Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro this year. The launch date is expected to be this fall, especially a high chance in October 2021, so stay tuned and let us show you what you should expect from the Pixel and Pixel 6 Pro.

The powerful “heart” for only Pixel phone

Google’s new Tensor SoC is the heart of its next phone: It’s called the Tensor SoC, named after the Tensor Processing Units (TPU) Google uses in its data centres. Tensor is the first custom-built SoC specifically for Pixel phones, and it will power the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 with a focus on AI and machine learning.

In addition to the TPU, the two new Pixel will also have a new version of Google’s Titan M security chip. As stated by Google, with the new security core and Titan M2, Pixel 6 will have the most layers of hardware security in any phone.

Also, Google announces that the new design language named Material You will create a great user experience on the new Pixel phones. Google uses colour science with years of work in interaction design and engineering to updates this UI with new animation and design framework. The experience with the new Pixel is promised to be incredibly natural because everything runs smoothly on the Tensor chip.

The camera

It is confirmed that Google Pixel 6 will feature both the main sensor and ultra-wide camera, while the Pixel 6 Pro adds a 4X optical-zoom telephoto lens. Google also says that the main wide-angle sensor lets in 150% more light, but it isn’t sharing any specifications on the camera beyond that.

Bold design

The design of the Pixel 6 series is expected to be one of its most interesting aspects. The official images of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro that Google showed off have a striking new design. The two phones will employ a two-tone design with a black camera bump covering the entire width of the back. To explain this, Google stated that since the improved sensors and lenses are too big to fit into the traditional square, the new design gives the whole camera system a new home with a camera bar. The Pixel 6 offers a few colour options, including Red, Yellow, Gray, and Black. The Pixel 6 Pro will also be available in three colour options — Beige, Silver, and Black.

The front of the duo is almost all screen with a centered hole punch cut-out for the selfie camera. The Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch FHD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have new materials and finishes, too. The standard Pixel 6 is said to have a matte aluminium finish while the Pixel 6 Pro will have a light polished aluminium frame. Both phones have an industrial design with squared-off corners.

The good news is that Google has moved away from the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor to an under-display fingerprint scanner. This should make it easier to unlock both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

With this information, it seems like the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro represents a big step up for Google phones. There are lots we do not know about the Google Pixel 6 though, so we are waiting on a 'full' unveiling this fall.
